The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has decided to undertake an ‘Thamboola prashne,’ a divination method at the premises of an 800 year old mosque in Mangalore’s Malali on May 25th.
A controversy erupted after a temple-like structure was found during the demolition of Assayed Abdullahil Madani Juma Masjid in Malali.
It was decided by Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Bharath Shetty and VHP leader and Sharan Pumpwell.
Right wing outfit VHP claims that a temple like structure was found during the renovation of the masjid, last month. According to reports, district administration said it is not yet ascertained whether it is a Hindu or Jain structure.
However, mosque authorities claim they have documents to prove it is a Masjid and during those days mosques were built in different style.
After Hindutva outfits claimed that it was a temple, the third additional civil judge and JMFC court had issued a stay on the renovation work at the mosque.
